Project Rosalie - 21 Weeks

It was a BIG week for Rosalie! She accomplished a great many things this week! She turned 5 months old on Friday and on that very SAME DAY she had her first rice cereal meal with a big girl bowl and spoon and THEN that night.... sat up all on her own! She only did it for a few seconds at a time Friday, but it's only been a couple of days, and she is doing so well! She has excellent balance.

Her first experience with rice cereal was a good one. She really seemed to like it, she leans towards the spoon with an open mouth, but she hasn't quite gotten the hang of moving it back in her mouth and swallowing it, so quite a bit ends up on her bib! Not surprising really seeing as she never got the hang of a bottle either!

She's showing signs of teething, but no sign of anything yet in her little mouth thank goodness! I am SO going to miss her big toothless grin when that day comes. But I'm sure I'll love her snaggle-toothed one just. as. much!

Project Rosalie - 20 Weeks

All I can say about this week is that at this age, babies change in the blink of an eye! Rosalie is turning into a to a little girl a little bit every day. As much as I love seeing her learn and grow and discover, I wish every day lasted at least three. That way I could soak up every stage, and every first and still get done all that I desperately need to! My house has never been this dirty, I've never been this behind on projects and I've never fought so hard to take a shower every day. And despite the fact that my life is far from perfect... I've NEVER been happier!

David looked at me like I had three heads when I told him a name I'm thinking about for the next one...

Project Rosalie - 19 Weeks Old

Sorry this post is late, I know you've been waiting ;-) Rosalie has been getting REALLY interested in mommy and daddy's food lately, even getting excited when she sees it and then crying when she realizes she doesn't get to share! SO, as sure as I was that I would wait until 6 months to give her 'food' I'm going to start her on rice cereal on the 28th when she's 5 months! She also has been waking up to eat more at night so I think her little growing body is needing something a little more substantial.

So lets hear what you think. I keep having people (strangers) way over-estimate her age, thinking that she's like 6 months old and they're surprised when they find out she's not even 5 months yet! Then they exclaim how BIG she is... but she's not! She's in the 50th percentile for height (though she is a teeny bit chubbilicious). SO is it because the mom HOLDING her is small? Or does my baby really look older? I even had a mom say to her child 'that baby is the same age as you, 6 months old!' so I turned and smiled at them and she asked how old and I said 4 1/2 months and she actually seemed to get upset! Like I was lying! She just pursed her lips and stopped smiling or talking. What's up with that???
It doesn't matter though! She's so stinkin' perfect! She's laughing, babbling, kicking her left leg and scooting around on her back! I love her!

See? Girl is SERIOUSLY hungry!

Project Rosalie - 18 Weeks Old

Happy Mothers Day! Being a Mother is the best thing ever! If any of you are out there loathing this day the way I have in the recent past, I'm sorry if that's the 8 millionth time you've heard that! Rosalie, David and I had a great week and we took Grana (my mom) to the Military Muster at Mission San Luis yesterday for Mothers Day. Mom wanted a day with all of us as her gift, so we had an early lunch, checked out the festivities at the Mission and then made a stop at Rita's on the way home where we hung out for a bit before Mom and Dad headed out. Rosalie is wrapping her grandparents around her tiny, adorable fingers! She sure was giving out smiles and laughs today at the grandparents!

I know I say this every week, but this baby is so, so, so much fun! I'm trying to get her a little more familiar with water so that when we start getting in pools and sprinklers and such this Summer she isn't totally freaked out! We do have a beach trip in July to prepare for! Anyway we've been playing in the sink and splashing around some. She really seems to like it!

Rosalie's extra special Mother's Day gift to me was going back to the way she used to sleep last night. FIVE hours in a row! That used to be every night, she would sleep at LEAST 5 hours, but lately she's been waking up a lot more and getting up earlier, so last night was quite refreshing!

Project Rosalie - 17 Weeks Old

Rosalie, Rosaloo! Sweet girl! She got her four month vaccinations this week and had her four month well child checkup. She did well with the shots, but had a rougher time with the side effects this round than last. She had a low fever and redness and bruising at the injection sites, but she was still such a good girl. We snuggled and napped and chilled for a couple of days (the nights were another story however... we won't get into that). As you can see in this picture, she has a "lovey" that she loves to cuddle and gnaw on. So cute! And you guys should hear her laugh!

Oh, and her stats are as follows:
24 inches long
14.5 pounds
That puts her at 50th percentile for height and 65th for weight (and head circumference).
She's moved up from the 30th percentile in height since two months! She's a weed!
